Congressman Michael Guest Meets with MADA Leadership at Jackson Headquarters

MADA was pleased to welcome Congressman Michael Guest to its Jackson headquarters for an in-depth legislative briefing and discussion on key issues impacting franchised automobile dealers across Mississippi.

During the meeting, MADA leaders — including Board Chairman Phil Moore, Cliff Mitchell, Paul Moak, John Scarbrough and MADA President Marty Milstead — discussed the state of the automotive retail industry with Congressman Guest.

Key Priorities Addressed

  • Right to Repair: The so-called “Right to Repair” legislation moving through the House of Representatives remains a top priority. Dealers want to preserve the current functional and competitive repair system without introducing new liabilities for dealerships.
  • Chinese-Manufactured Automobiles: Discussion focused on the bipartisan “Connected Vehicle Security Act of 2026,” which aims to prohibit the sale and use of vehicles from China and other “countries of concern” in the U.S. Additionally, the legislation seeks to restrict the use of Chinese software and connected-car technology in American vehicles.

Congressman Guest reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for pro-business policies in Washington, emphasizing the importance of empowering local auto dealers to succeed in an evolving economy.

Since being elected to Congress, Congressman Guest has shown a strong interest in understanding and addressing the concerns of automobile dealers. Each term, he makes it a point to visit the MADA office or drop by local dealerships whenever he is home from Washington.
